How do I set up/move an altafiber TV Atom DVR or Orbit HD set top box?
Yes, just follow the Wireless Set-Up (WAP) when moving your Set Top Box below. Be sure that you place your Set Top Box in a location with the strongest Wi-Fi connection as possible to the Gateway/modem which is indicated on the front LED screen of your Set Top Box.
Network setup tool and troubleshooting instructions:
The network setup tool will launch on initial power on of the STB with the option to connect the box via wired (Ethernet) or wireless (Wi-Fi) to the home network. Or by pressing the WPS button on the STB during boot up.
For a wired setup:
From Settings, Select Network Settings
- Use the arrow pad on the remote control to highlight Wired (Ethernet) when prompted on the “Select connection type” page
- Click OK on the remote control when Ethernet is highlighted
- If the STB does not detect an Ethernet cable you will get an error on the screen
- The STB will attempt to connect to the wired connection
- If successful, a screen with a 120 second timer will appear.
- You can use the arrow pad on the remote to highlight “Finish” and click ok to bypass the timer or let the timer run out to complete the pairing process.
- If the STB fails to connect via “Wired”, Click OK on the remote control and the customer will return back to the first setup screen.
- Have the customer repeat the setup process again to try and connect.
For a wireless setup:
From Settings, Select Network Settings
- Use the arrow pad on the remote control to highlight Wireless (Wi-Fi) when prompted on the “Select connection type” page
- Click OK on the remote control when Wi-Fi is highlighted
Note: Wired Connection options takes precedence to wireless connection. Please disconnect the Ethernet cable if attempting to setup a wireless connection.
- On the “Initiate wireless connection setup page”, Start WPS will automatically highlighted.
- Click OK on the remote control
- A countdown timer will appear and it gives the customer 180 seconds to locate the gateway and initiate the setup
- Advise the customer to locate their Gateway
- Press and hold the WPS button on the front of the Zyxel 3415 until the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz Wi-Fi LED starts flashing amber to initiate the setup
- If the timer expires and there is not a successful pairing the customer will see “Pairing Has Failed”. They will be taken back to the initial connection screen and will have to repeat the process.
- If successful, a screen with a 120 second timer will appear.
- You can use the arrow pad on the remote to highlight “Finish” and click ok to bypass the timer or let the timer run out to complete the pairing process.
- Once successfully paired the STB will take any updates and configure itself to the customer’s account. The standard pinwheel will spin counting 1 of 1, 1 of 2 and so on until video is rendered on the TV.
Connection Notes
- Recommended minimum distance between Gateway and STB for wireless connection is 7 feet. Any closer it is recommended to wire (Ethernet) the STB to the Gateway.
- The Network Setup Tool has a 15 minute timer.
- If the STB sits idle on the network tool the STB will need to be power cycled to return to the setup tool.
